CEREC
We’re pleased to offer CEREC one-visit crowns to our patients who qualify for a custom-milled porcelain restoration. These state-of-the-art computerized systems use 3D imaging technology and custom-milling units to fabricate all-ceramic dental restorations that look, feel, and perform like natural teeth. Dr. Kell has undergone extensive CEREC training to provide this optimal dental solution.
CEREC Inlays & Onlays
You have a big filling that needs replacement. Do you have to get a full crown? Not necessarily. A more conservative option, inlays and onlays fit into a tooth similar to a filling, yet they are milled restorations, much like a crown. The bumps on top of a tooth are called cusps. Inlays fit between cusps, while onlays fit over one or more cusps. Inlays and onlays allow a patient to retain more natural tooth structure, which is always best.
Not every situation is right for an inlay or onlay, but the dentist will assess your problem and determine the best solution for you. Because they are created in our office with CEREC technology, inlays and onlays require only one appointment. During your visit, we will prepare your tooth by removing decay or old fillings and cleaning the area. We will take digital impressions and use the CEREC machine to create a custom inlay or onlay for you. CEREC restorations are metal-free and will blend seamlessly with your natural tooth color. Once the restoration has been fabricated, the dentist will cement your final inlay or onlay into position. After final polishing and modifications to ensure proper bite alignment, you'll enjoy your stronger, healthier smile for years to come.
The Process
The process is simple. First, Dr. Kell will examine your tooth and determine the necessary treatment, then remove the damaged area and a take a digital photograph. Our computer converts this photo into a 3D image that Dr. Kell will use to design your custom restoration. Your crown specifications are then sent to a milling machine that fabricates your custom crown. Once your crown is completed, Dr. Kell will permanently bond it in place.
